MARKIS (Maritime Competence and Innovation Cooperation in the Skagerrak & Kattegat) is a 3 year project supported by the EU Interreg IVA Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak Programme. Over a three-year period businesses, research and education institutions and public authorities will work together to make the Skagerrak & Kattegat region a global frontrunner in the conversion to green shipping.
The vision of the MARKIS project is to create a maritime region with zero harmful emissions to air and water from shipping and a globally competitive maritime cluster.
The MARKIS project is divided into three Arenas:
- Innovation Arena
- Competence Arena
- Communication Arean
One of the more active parts in this project is Swedish Marine Technology Forum. Swedish Marine Technology Forum is one of three process leaders in the Innovation Arean but is also involved in the other to Arenas. Since 1:st of Febryary 2011 Johan Algell from White Smoke Consulting is engaged by Swedish Maritime Technology Forum as project manager for their part of the MARKIS project.
